Monday is one of the large holidays in China. It is mid-autumn festival. The university has asked us to be on a TV show and we agreed. It keeps getting more involved as the time draws near. First, they were going to interview us live from our apartment. Then, they wanted to add a Chinese faculty member to the mix. This morning we were told that we will go to a Chinese home and talk about the festival and then make dumplings together and then be filmed eating and sharing the meal and moon cakes, which is the traditional food eaten for luck on this holiday. They are little pasteries with filling (very solid filling) and are quite good. There is nothing I can compare them to because we don't ever eat anything with that sort of filling--the fillings vary from nuts, figs, and bean curd, but is very dense!! We will take our own camera and try to get pictures to send next week. We film tonight or Friday night--it is very relaxed and not precise here in China. Our classes are wonderful and we are having a great experience.
